No Liquids On Planes? What a Hoax!
June and I are flying to Buffalo tonight for a wedding trip. And
in case you haven’t heard, all liquids are prohibited on plane flights,
since the 8/10 UK bomb scare. No drinking water, no hair gel, no toothpaste… although they now allow up to 4oz. of eyedrops.
The
stupid thing is, it’s an irrational regulation. There is no
evidence to support the belief that you can easily mix liquids into a
powerful explosive. This is the stuff of TV thrillers and movies,
not reality. Reference: Article in The RegisterIt
pisses me off that millions of travelers are going to be incovenienced
for no good reason. Either because the TSA is too dumb, or
because [channeling the spirit of Michael Moore] the Bush
administration wants to keep everyone in a heightened state of fear. What’s next? No clothes allowed on planes?

i can do without the makeup and contact solution during a flight but definitely not without a bottle of water. if they’re going to ban bottles of water, then the airlines should give out 8oz bottles rather than beverages on those teeny tiny cups. i always get dehydrated on planes! see you and june at the buff!

and while I understand that copycatting could occur, even if a tactic could work I’m not convinced of the utility of trying to prevent a failed one from happening in the future. It failed. The “terrists” will probably try something different.
How about SNAKES on a plane??? hahaha
i have a friend who just took a trip and was allowed to bring a dissection kit onboard, but not a bottle of water.
dude it was so heckaclose that ipods weren’t prohibited..haha how are you?
that article is hilarious. where/how did they get those photos?
Another explanation: they want to broadcast that they’re doing something to address the issue, and not being able to think of anything both visible and effective, they choose something that’s just visible. Apparently that’s how the requirement to show ID came about as well…. The twist is that now, they’re choosing to do things that are visible and annoying.
For awhile it stated on the TSA site, “We encourage everyone to pack gel-filled bras in their checked baggage” except for medical reasons, but now they they permit them.
