Still sick — Strange! (Stuffy sinuses)
I’ve been sick for over 3 weeks now. It started as a head cold, but I think turned into something else. My only symptoms are stuffy sinuses and some aches in my face. No fever, no throat soreness, no hacking cough. I did some snooping on the web. Looks like it’s pretty common — a cold makes your sinuses stuffy, and that creates an ideal environment for bacteria to flourish and begin sinus infections. The sinuses, I learned, are pockets of air in your head. Then I know some people with much larger-than-average sinuses, ha!
I am a little miffed at the Creator for making the human body like this. So vulnerable to such a combo attack. Or maybe the body is fine, and the cold viruses are in collusion with the bacteria. Who knows what kind of kickback the viruses get.
After the first two weeks I talked to type5, and he prescribed Amoxicillin for me. After 8 days of that, the treatment was declared “ineffective.” Now I’m on Augmentin, which sounds like a metal used to forge Elvish swords. It’s supposed to be harsh on your stomach, but I had my first pill with half a tunafish sandwich, and no problems at all.

Shoe, I am ok on food — thanks! Yeah, thank God it’s not mono… how would I ever live that down?

any luck with the atrovent? if you go to mass eye and ear, they may prescribe something call guaifenesin (found in robitussin). you can also take it, but i think it’s useless. suppose to loosen your sinuses.

do you have allergies? apparently the ragweed count is prematurely high this time of year. i’ve been sneezing already.

Yeah I think I have the same thing — my nose has been like a faucet these past few weeks and I go through around 2.5 boxes of Kleenex every day. None of the allergy meds I’ve taken work (Claritin, Allegra, Sudafed), although — as I mentioned in one of my blogs — Vick’s nasal spray is great and gives relief for about 2.5 hours (although I worry about rebound so I don’t use it as much).
No fever, no aches, etc., just constant clogged up nose. Oddly enough, it’s best in the morning and gets worse through the day, particularly when I sit down for a long time.
We should get together and do drugs sometime.
What’s Annie doing?
SMC: I don’t think it’s allergies because the locale doesn’t change it’s severity (home, office, car, retreat). Also, facial aches don’t typically come from allergies.
LCS: Get type5 to prescribe you some stuff.

you know what it is changed? it might be sinus pain – the face aches. and also, YOU NEED TO REST! EAT WELL, EXERCISE, DRINK LOTS OF WATER, and REST!
you’ve been running non-stop… you need to stop. maybe God is telling you to stay in bed and be still.

i hope you’re taking a lot of sick days! i wish i got sick more often cuz i never end up using many of my sick days.
ed… but could you be allergic to something in your new loft? some sort of chemical in the paint, carpet, etc.?
lcs – sorry, missed your allergy post. have you tried zyrtec and nasal steroids? i find zyrtec to be the most effective of all the non-sedating anti-histamines (actually, it’s low sedating), but many insurances don’t cover it. nasal steroids can be even better. if you’re interested, please email me a pharmacy number and your birthdate.
Correction: I guess Annie was in the picture; I just thought it was someone else. And giantsuper, I don’t know what she’s doing with her hands. Reaching to adjust her backpack maybe?
