I always grew up calling it Coke, regardless of the actual drink. So: “Mom, may I have a coke?” “Ok, what kind?” “Ginger Ale.”
The sandwiches were terrific, but the soup was even better!

it’s also interesting how coca-cola was invented in atlanta. which is probably why people in the south call everything ‘coke.’
